The Tao of Twitter by Mark Schaefer is a great hands on book for newbie Twitter users. Within its pages are hundreds of useful tips and information on how to use a Twitter account for your business. For me, I found this book to be of great help because I have a Twitter but am not proactive on it. In the book it explains rules to you on how to appropriately use the social media site for your business page. For instance, it tells you how active you should be and how many times a day you should be tweeting. It also tells you to branch out and explains why it is so important to make as many connections as possible.
All in all I would recommend this book to anyone whether they have a background with Twitter or not. People my age need to know the difference between a personal Twitter page and a business Twitter page. I think that this book does a great joke explaining the differences and how they are used differently.
For me I feel like I could in fact run my own Twitter page after reading this book. I am confident enough now in my own Twitter skills and have a sense for what I should and should not be doing. I could even use my fake business as a way to practice. Practice makes perfect is what I've always been told!

World Wide Rave Review
The World Wide Rave written
by David Meerman Scott was an excellent read. The book
really explored into depth about how to use certain skills and apply them to
you or your business to help grow and excel. The whole idea of the book was how
to create a worldwide rave. To do that though you must target an audience and
start a buzz about you or your company. To do so however you need to learn
certain tricks and triggers to get your potential clients into your virtual
world on the web. I like the fact that the book took real life examples along
with step by step processes and information on how to do so. By adding real
life stories of people's success it makes the reader more engaged and more
likely to actually act upon the information being given. It is not just
pointless information that has no relativity to you or your business. It
has facts and proof to back it up. I learned a great deal from this book and I
hope to someday maybe use some of these tips and if I dream big enough maybe
even create my own worldwide rave!

"Fake" Business
For my business that I am creating for Media Writing class, I have decided to open up a doggy daycare. The daycare will include services such as grooming, lessons, boarding, and of course a daycare. I haven't come up with a business name yet, I am not sure if we have to do that yet or if we will discuss that in a later class. The business however, will be placed on a big piece of land away from major highways and routes to ensure the safety of pets. There will be jungle gyms and plenty of room and activities for dogs to participate in. It will be a friendly, safe environment where dog lovers can bring their pups!

Bachelorette Breakdown
She applied the final touch of make up to her
porcelain skin and stared back at herself.
She was glowing with pre wedding bliss. She could hardly wait to walk
down the aisle and see the man of her dreams standing, waiting with a bountiful
amount of love to offer her for the rest of their days together.
The
doorbell rang; she swung the door open and her bridal party stampeded in like a
herd of wild animals. Their chatter and laughs instantly filled the room that
was only minutes ago filled with just her thoughts alone. Her friends gawked
over how beautiful she looked while pulling at her like some sort of life sized
Barbie doll. “Enough, enough!” she shouted, “let’s get this party started!”
The
limo honked outside the house, three exaggerated beeps. They all screamed with
excitement and rushed to the door. “Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Britt the maid of honor quickly blurted out,
“Before we all leave and get ahead of ourselves, I do have one request. We must
all turn off and leave our cell phones here. This is a girl’s night. A night to
celebrate and cherish the engagement of Sarah. No distractions.” They all
agreed and piled their phones on top of one another on the coffee table.
Without hesitation after doing so, they all sprinted to the limo. The night had
begun.
The
next morning was fuzzy. Slowly awakening, they all groaned about how shitty
they felt. The night was a success however, each one of them satisfied with the
outcome of the party. Slowly making their way out of bed and into the kitchen,
they all talked and laughed over freshly brewed coffee and pancakes about the
previous night events. “Holy shit, our phones!” Sarah said. She ran to the
coffee table in the living room and quickly powered on her device. “Mark is
going to be livid that I forgot to call when I got in!” she stressed. Finally
the phone was up and running. 27 missed calls and 14 new voicemails. The
startling shock of such a site forced her knees to collapse and her gut to
sink. She entered her four digit
password put the phone up to her ear and listened through to the other end.
She
flung her face into her lap and let out the most heart wrenching sob. Her
friends quickly surrounded her and comforted her but didn’t know what for. Britt
took the phone and listened to the message Sarah had just received. The phone slipped from her hand and she too
dropped next to her friend, wrapping her arms tightly around her comforting her
like a child.
“Sarah
it’s your mother, where are you?! There has been an accident. Mark’s apartment
building caught on fire last night. He isn’t looking too good honey. He is in a
coma and the doctors aren’t sure if he’ll make it. Oh honey, please call me
when you get this, we’re all so worried. This isn’t how I wanted you to find
out this sort of news. Please when you get this message meet us all at the
hospital. Mark needs you by his side now more than ever.”

Blog 1: Ellie Mae
It was a brisk June morning. I arose and was instantly hit with a flood of
excitement and anticipation. It was a feeling much similar to a kid on
Christmas morning. I hopped out of bed, into the shower, and flew out the door
into the car without sparing another second.
Voyaging alongside me was my Mom, boyfriend, brother, brother’s
girlfriend, and sister. We all went over possible names and talked about the
bundle of joy that was soon going to be coming home with us.
We pulled into the driveway and up
to a house much similar to one you would envision to be the witches house in the fairy-tale Hansel and Gretel. It was a
creepy little cottage, desolated in the woods. We all got out puzzled and
thought this could not possibly be the right destination. Nevertheless, we
walked up the creaky walkway and up to the door. “Knock knock knock”, we tapped
on the door. A woman greeted us and showed us the way in.
In a row we filed into the musty
house. It was cold and smelled of mold. There was limited lighting along with
odd pictures and décor around the house. It was the kind of place that made you
want to crawl out of your skin. The woman however did the best she could to
make us feel at home while she went out back to bring out what would soon be
mine. We all looked around the room and then at each other not needing to
communicate what we were all feeling. The place was absolutely disgusting. With
a few exchanged words between one another we put that aside and remembered the
reason we came, to retrieve the retriever, Ellie.
The woman walked back into the room
and set down a beautiful golden retriever before me. The exact one I had found
online and had been fantasizing over for weeks. She was the one. A smile grew on my face and spread from ear to
ear. I knew I would have a new furry friend who would hold a special place in
my heart, Ellie Mae.
